Documentation — stories and processes

I believe in the importance of providing relevant documentation for a project.

I understand that, as a Technical Lead or Product Owner, the temptation to copy-paste processes from a previous company may seem like a quick solution, but in reality, it only adds more clutter and complicates the process.

Simplicity is key, and this applies to documentation as well. A basic page with a few bullet points that are specifically tailored to the current project will always be more effective than an extensive page with a lot of details.

By keeping documentation simple and focused, we can ensure that all team members have a clear understanding of the process and their role within it. This, in turn, leads to a more efficient workflow and a smoother delivery of the project.

Moreover, a well-structured and concise documentation also helps to maintain consistency and prevent confusion. It ensures that everyone is working towards the same goal and that the process is being followed correctly.

In conclusion my opinion is that providing relevant documentation is crucial for the success of a project.

By focusing on simplicity and relevance, we can ensure that everyone is aligned and working towards a common goal. And, most importantly, we can ensure that the process is efficient and effective, delivering the best results for our customers.

Documentation is a way to communicate a vision and ensure everyone is working towards the same goal. So, instead of simply copying and pasting processes from a previous company, it’s important to take the time to understand the story behind the project and what needs to be achieved.

When we understand the story, we can then craft documentation that is specific to that project and that helps to bring the vision to life. By doing so, we ensure that everyone is working towards a common goal and that the project is being executed in the right way.

It allows us to focus on what really matters, and to provide the information that is most useful to the team. And, by doing so, we can help everyone to work more efficiently and to deliver better results.
